Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day weekend was a lot of fun for our family....we had soccer Saturday morning and then we packed up and headed out to go dig for geodes. What are geodes you ask?....well,

Geodes (Greek γεώδης - geodes, "earthlike") are geological rock formations which occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic rocks. Geodes are essentially rock cavities or vugs with internal crystal formations or concentric banding. The exterior of the most common geodes is generally limestone or a related rock, while the interior contains quartz crystals and/or chalcedony deposits. Other geodes are completely filled with crystal, being solid all the way through. These types of geodes are called nodules.

Here's a picture:

Those of you that know me are laughing right now, imagining me digging for these rocks, I know. It's WAY more Brian's thing than mine, but our neighbor Mike was just as excited as Brian was about this (Mike + Heidi had already been the weekend before). Heidi and I set up, fed everyone, visited, and took a walk down a long dusty road. It was fun, but we took Griff + Gracie and Zach was paranoid that they were going to run off and never come back, or eat something weird and die! He was so freaked out and angry that he couldn't enjoy himself. We ended up getting home late and everyone showered and went to bed.

Church was great on Sunday. Brian gave a talk and he did a wonderful job. All the women in our ward got a box of chocolate dipped strawberries...YUMMY! I saw our Relief Society President's kitchen light on WAY past her bedtime on Saturday night, so I know she was working hard to make it a special day for all of us...thanks Rebekah! We spent the afternoon with my mom + dad and then Michael + Bekah brought the kids down later for dessert. Thanks again to Michael + Bekah for the good smelling candle and the thoughtful card (how was that Michael? ha, ha, ha). I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful family...Zach, Lauren, Tess + Ella you are all such blessings in my life. Thanks for you sweet cards and my pretty bracelet!

To our mother's: "A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." - Washington Irving

Brian and I are so grateful for your love and concern and we appreciate the examples you are to our children. We love you both so much! Happy Mother's Day, again!

Here are some pictures of our little adventure:
