The Sunday before Christmas (the 23rd), we got together with my parents and Michael and Bekah and their family. The kids had a lot of fun playing with their cousins, and the adults had plenty of food to snack on.
Christmas Eve, Brian and I finally decided to take the kids to Temple Square. That's been one of our traditions since we've moved here. We always look forward to seeing the beautiful lights and taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. This year it was blizzarding, and it was freezing!!...so, we had to see the lights from the car. After we got home, Zach, Lauren, and Tess were so anxious to keep track of Santa on the Norad website. They made sure that they went to bed way before Santa reached "our neck of the woods". They all had a huge slumber party in Lauren's room together, and they kept peaking out the window to see Santa's sleigh...it was so cute.
Christmas morning began early, about 6 AM, and the kids were pleasantly surprised by what Santa brought. They were playing all day long. Nannie & Papa came over later, and brought the gifts that Santa left at their place. Grandma and Grandpa sent money for the kids early, and the kids had a blast picking out their own toys!
We relaxed and spent a lot of down time between Christmas and New Year's Eve. For Lauren's birthday, she wanted to have 2 girlfriends from school over and she wanted to go and see "Enchanted". The kids loved the movie....even Zach seemed to tolerate it.
New Year's Eve we went to a neighborhood party and ate seafood. The kids played and had a rockin' good time. We came home around 9 PM and put Ella to bed, and then we counted down with Mom, Dad, Zach, Lauren & Tess. New Year's Day, Mom and Dad came over and Michael and Bekah brought the kids down. We had the traditional sauerkraut and pork. Sounds gross, but it's really YUMMY!
We hope that you've all had a great Christmas and wonderful start on the New Year.
Love to all,
Brian, Kim, Zach, Lauren, Tess & Ella
